Accessing the Physical Space

Entrances to the J. William Horsey Library and the ABBA Resource Centre are both fully accessible to people with physical disabilities. Both library locations consist of one floor and all spaces and aisles in both libraries are also fully accessible.

If you are new to our campus, please enter using the front entrance and speak to Reception about navigating to the library.

Accessible men’s and women’s washrooms are located just outside the main entrance of the library, and the cafeteria is located on the same floor.

Services

Students with disabilities (or disabled students, if preferred) are strongly encouraged to speak with Accessibility Services about potential accommodation and assistance for classes, course texts, and assignments.

Library staff are ready and available to provide any assistance you may require while using the physical space and library resources. If you would like assistance, please identify your need and request support from library staff at the circulation desk.

Assistance in the library is available for people who are not able to use public access terminals to locate library materials, and retrieval assistance is available for persons whose disability prevents them from retrieving materials on their own.

Assistance will also be provided to persons who are not physically able to use the photocopy facilities. Library staff will photocopy or scan needed materials within the Fair Dealing provisions of the Canadian Copyright Act. Regular printing and photocopying fees apply. Please allow for one business day for scans to be sent from our team.

Alternative formats will be provided for library resources that are not accessible or are not compatible with assistive technology.

Patrons are welcome to bring assistive technology with them into the library. If the device may disturb other users, patrons are encouraged to ask for assistance to find the best place in the library to use the device. Personal assistants and service animals are also welcome.
