Request Library Materials
Print Books, Other Media (CDs, DVDs, etc.)
Library users with active accounts can request physical items for pickup at the Main Library Front Desk (J. William Horsey) or delivery to their home address. See our Circulation Policies for details on what can be requested and by whom.
Horsey Express
Need a book from storage? Use Horsey Express to request it.
Note: Library Materials listed as Main Library STORAGE are available through this service. Requested books will be held at the Main Library circulation desk for 24 hours.
Welcome to the J. William Horsey Library Express! As much of our book collection held in storage rooms on campus, we've adopted a system to help you retrieve the books that you need.
IMPORTANT: All items listed as being in Main Library STORAGE are available for retrieval through the Horsey Express service. We will hold your requested items at the Main Library circulation desk for 24 hours.
Items that require the Horsey Express
Please fill out the Tyndale Horsey Express form and we will retrieve the following items for you:
- Items listed as being in Main Library STORAGE that are listed as "available".
- All kits, pamphlets and print periodicals.
Self Serve Items
Items listed as available in the Main Library STACKS or ABBA Resource Centre. Note both the location and call number in WorldCat.
Picking up requested items
Retrieved items will be ready for pickup at the Main Library circulation desk one hour after we receive your request.
If the item is already checked out, we'll place you in the hold queue and notify you by email when the item is ready.
You may place requests up to 30 minutes before closing time. Requests made after that will be ready one hour after the Libary opens on the following business day. See J. William Horsey Library Hours to plan your visit!
If you have any questions or inquiries, use our LibAnswers Service .
Placing Holds
All valid Tyndale library users may place holds on materials that are charged out to other patrons with the exception of reserve materials. This can be done electronically through WorldCat, either in the Library or by remote access. Reserve materials are loaned on a first-come-first served basis, and no request for reserve materials placed through WorldCat will be processed by the Library. Once notified, you have one week to pick up your holds at the J. William Horsey Library front desk.

Mailing Books Service
When requesting materials, current off-campus students may choose to have items mailed to their home address instead of being held at the Library. View Mailing Books Service Policy.
Indicate which books you would like to be mailed to you, and please include the call numbers in your request. In your request, please provide your name and mailing address. Allow for up to 7-10 days for the books to arrive.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Interlibrary Loan is a service provided to patrons who need access to library materials beyond the J. William Horsey Library collection. The library will try to borrow or request photocopies of articles that are not held at the Tyndale libraries. View Interlibrary Loan Policy for more details.
Arranging the ILL
There are 3 options:
- Locate the item in WorldCat and place an interloan request there
- Fill out the online interlibrary loan request form
- Speak with the Public Services Librarian.
