Serving the Church

This program is really a Master of Divinity program, and when you major in Christian Education & Formation it means that you have five courses to equip you to specialize in this particular area. But the MDiv program equips you to be a pastor in general so we have graduates who have been equipped to be solo pastors in the congregation, smaller congregations of 100, 200-250. They are equipped to be pastors who lead the congregation but who have the expertise in educational ministries to help them with discipleship formation. Then we also have graduates who enter positions which have multi-staff situations and they are pastors of education, pastors of discipleship, pastors of small group ministries, children, youth and family. These are people who are part of a larger team who bring their expertise and knowledge to help the overall pastoral team to create vision and oversight of educational ministries in the church.

Mission and education

Missions and education are two sides of the same coin.

We also have graduates who go overseas in mission fields. Missions and education are really two sides of the same coin. When you plant churches and when you preach the gospel you need to develop people in the faith. Christian Education and Formation graduates have the knowledge and understanding to build new believers in their faith so they are involved in missions as well. We have graduates who do teaching overseas in public schools overseas. We have currently a graduate who is teaching in one of the public schools in Hong Kong. With her understanding of education principles and curriculum she is fully engaged at the school helping young children and young people to develop an understanding of God.
