Seminary Fall 2020 Course Types
Seminary Fall 2020 courses will be offered as scheduled and will be delivered in various online formats. Courses may include graded group discussion forums and virtual office hours with the professor(s). Please refer to the course syllabi for details.
The following are the three types of the Seminary Fall 2020 online courses:
Web-based Online (Course Section W1)
Web-based online courses are accessed from your computer, tablet or smartphone on your own schedule. Professors provide materials, pre-recorded lectures, and assignments for each week that can be accessed at any time. Students and instructors are not required to be online at the same time (asynchronous courses).
Livestream courses are streamed live over the internet and accessed from your computer, tablet or smartphone. Remote students join the virtual classroom as full participants in the classroom. Lectures, discussions, and presentations occur at the class time on the course schedule. Students and instructors are required to be online at the same time (synchronous courses).
Hybrid (Online/Livestream) courses are designed with a few shorter presentations that are streamed live and in which students and instructors are online at the same times (synchronous). The remainder of the course consists of readings, pre-recorded lectures, and assignments (asynchronous).
How to understand a course code?
Every course code has a 4-letter prefix followed by a 4-digit number.
A 2-digit section number follows this sequence. A course that has multiple timeslots is marked by section 01, 02, 03, etc.
An online course is marked with a W and a modular course is marked with a M, K or X. A livestream course is marked with an L and a hybrid course is marked with either an H1 (online and on-ground format) or HL (online and livestream format). An intersession course is marked with an N. For other section codes not listed here, please refer to the “Notes” column on the course offerings list.
