Andrew Witt

Dr. Witt joined Tyndale in the 2018-19 academic year and primarily teaches courses related to the Old Testament, hermeneutics, and biblical Hebrew. His research area is the book of Psalms, where he is currently working on a commentary for the Bible in God's World series (Cascade). He also is co-chair of the History of Interpretation session of the IBR annual meeting, with Dr. Marion Taylor (Wycliffe College, Toronto). This is a group that aims to give voice to forgotten or downplayed interpreters throughout church history. In each of his classes, Dr. Witt enjoys discussing how Scripture meets us in our daily lives, as we learn to see the world through its lens.

He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and completed most of his higher education in the States. He became a Christian in his first year of university, so he knows how formative these four years of undergraduate life can be. He has lived in Toronto since 2010 and was married to his wife Andrea in 2021. Hobbies include biking, photography, and reading fantasy literature.
